Graduation Dinner

Tonight BMC hosted a graduation dinner for the Chief Resident Ob/Gyn class of 2010.

our crew started the evening with some coloring & sticker fun in the foyer as cocktails and appy's were served. It was nice for the boy to have his cousins there to help keep him distracted during the more adult goings-on.

As you can see Dr. Em was bombarded with gifts, cards and congratulations...

Farah & Dan are very excited about the Salmon...

and the dance floor was the cousins own personal playground.
(note the size of the boy in the photo being projected above them)

Adventure Day

I admit that a trip to the Flu Clinic for shots is not nearly as fun as the children's museum.
But we still got chocolate cupcakes afterwords.

Weights & Measures

Today we had our annual well-baby (or should I say big boy) visit with the Doctor. The lil' Monkey was generally charming & much relieved to know that there were no shots in store for him - although mama got one (ouch). So he was pronounced to be in perfect health & right where he has been all along on the growth charts...

So without further ado...

Height 38" or about 96 cm putting him around the 55th Percentile
and Weight 13.4 kg or 29.54 pounds --- How can he not be 30 pounds YET???? Putting him at about 25th percentile for weight for his age.

Then we got to have lunch with Mommy & got a sticker book at the used book store - all in all not a bad morning!!

2 Year Check Up

Well I was sad that we weren't going to be seeing Dr. C. this time cause I had really liked her on all of our previous visits, but today we had our first FAMILY visit with our new Doc at BMC. Em spent the first 15 minutes in the lobby doing all of the paperwork (ha ha --- I got out of it this time - and she had to do the copay too. Double ha ha). The doctor checked in with me first - mainly just a rundown of my existing Rx's and giving her the sad news that I think I have the beginnings of arthritis in my knuckles (way big yucky!!! - Started during the really cold weather this winter). Then we got to the fun part which was Monito's check in & check up.
She did a good job distracting him with Elmo while she checked his heart and lungs & he got to run about and show off his great smarts and agility for her - my only question was really about how to deal with his ongoing dandruff... not a very serious issue - oh well. Lastly she got to encourage Em to actually try to take care of herself - a tall order for someone who can't get out of the hospital long enough to see a doctor. There was something nice about us all getting seen by one doc as a "unit" - it felt good to have someone realizing that his sleep effects our sleep and em's schedule & stress has effects on all of us. Anyways I'm not being to clear - suffice to say I think I like the family doctor concept... So without FURTHER ADO - here are his stats:

Head - 50 cm

Weight - 25 lbs (seriously thats all - I think Kingston is probably heavier) This puts him in the 15th Percentile... around where he has been all along.

Length - 36 Inches - Yup 3' Tall - That popped him up to the 90th Percentile !!!!! (according to some online doohiky this means that he'll be 6' 1" when he's grown)

Tuesday, August 7

Peds Appt.

Today was our 15 Month Dr Visit -- He is excellent, of course ... with only one unsightly bruiser on his forehead from MamaCoffee at Andalu the other day. So without Further Ado his stats are:

Weight 21.2 lb (US) - still a skinny minny coming in in the 10th percentile
Height/Length 31.75" - tall - in the 75th Percentile for boys
Head 47 cm around - including the unsightly bruiser referred to above.

He got shots for HIB & DTaP -which they combod into on shot --- done quickly in his lidocained thigh as he stood up screaming in my ear.

One Year Check Up Today

So the boy had his one year visit today (nice cause today was his due date). The doctor LOVED him, of course & said that everything is looking great. He has been cleared to eat everything except choking hazards (ie raisons) and peanut butter -- Hello Strawberry ICE CREAM!!!

Vital Stats:

His Head is a nice 46.5 cm - smack dab on the 50th percentile line - up from the 25th percentile at his six month visit.

His Weight is 20lb 10 1/2 oz's (We might have turned his seat around a touch too soon) - Putting him above the 10th percentile, but not in the 25th yet - the same as at his 6 month visit. He is a lean boy & I am free to feed him lots of fatty foods if I want.

Length is where he's been putting all of his energy clearly because he stretched out and measured a whopping 31" - 3 inches of growth since his nine month appt. On length he left his prior trajectory right along the 50th percentile and Jumped over the 75th percentile line -- so he's lookin' long & lean.

Then he got the shots, but he did really good & only cried for a minute or so & was babbling to me like nothing happened as we walked back to the car. We celebrated the big morning by going out to Dana park with Xander & Gabe for a quick picnic and some time in the waterpark -
the boys are very cute together - Emily (Xan's mama) took photos & I'll post one if I can get it from her. Now he is napping in the stroller & I am going to get us ready for Grandpa Phil's Big Birthday Weekend Shindig!!!!
